TRACK SUPERVISOR

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Under the direction of the Director of Buildings & Grounds, the Track Supervisor is responsible for the maintenance of the racetrack surface proceeding and during the live racing season at Batavia Downs Gaming and Hotel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure racing surface is always in proper racing and training condition
- Supervise others assigned to assist in maintaining the racetrack.
- Interact with racing officials during the live race meet as necessary.
- Work in conjunction with the General Manager Live Racing/Race Secretary, ensuring that track conditions are maintained and safe during all training hours and live racing events.
- Ensure that the track is properly managed, prepared and maintained during each live racing event
- Notify supervisor of any equipment that is required to maintain the racetrack areas that need repair.
- Serve as a general handyman performing a variety of skilled duties during the Live Racing off season.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
A strong background in and extensive knowledge of the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of track surfaces. Ability to effectively communicate with people. Strong supervisory and leadership skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate.
ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
A high school diploma or GED, plus five (5) years of experience in maintenance operations related to racing and racing surfaces and one (1) year of experience in a supervisory role, or an equivalent combination of the foregoing experience and training sufficient to indicate the ability to effectively perform the required duties of the position.
Must possess the required licenses and/or certifications to perform duties, including a valid driver’s license.
Must be approved for and maintain a valid Video Lottery Gaming Service Employee license and racing license issued by the New York State Gaming Commission.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This is a stationary role approximately 50% of the time. This position requires the ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds at a time and bend or stand as necessary. The person in this position must be able to access and inspect areas of buildings and grounds, including climbing ladders and operating machinery. The person in this position must also be able to talk and hear in order to ensure proper communication both in person and over a radio. This position does have moderate exposure to weather conditions.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be available to work nights, weekends, and on holidays.
