BATAVIA DOWNS PRESENTS CHECK FOR $24,340 TO ROSWELL PARK

Contributions from Events Held in October and February.

BUFFALO, NY – Batavia Downs President & CEO, Byron Brown, presented representatives from the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center with a check for $24,340.90, a sum generated by two events held at Batavia Downs this past fall and winter.

On October 26, 2024 a dinner and night at the races fundraiser with Silent and Live Auctions to benefit Roswell Park was held inside the Batavia Downs Clubhouse. Businesses and donors located in Western NY sponsored several races that night. Through the dinner, donations, and auctions for items, the event raised over $12,000.

Then on Saturday, February 8 of 2025, Batavia Downs hosted it’s first ever Meat Raffle to benefit Roswell Park. Attendees enjoyed a spirited night of meat raffles. Combined with proceeds from the Silent Auction, the event raised another $12,000+ for Roswell Park.

“I’m honored to present this check to Roswell for over $24,000,” Brown said. “I want to thank Roswell for their Live Racing Partnership. We look forward to another great season with them as our title sponsor. Events to benefit Roswell will continue later this year. Roswell is an amazing part of community which helps so many of those with Cancer from Western New York and beyond.”

“We sincerely appreciate all of the efforts put forth by Batavia Downs with this past year’s partnership. Having the opportunity to bring awareness about early detection and the importance of cancer screenings to the patrons and staff was a tremendous opportunity for Roswell Park. The funds that were raised from these two events will support our Igniting Cancer Breakthroughs campaign for cellular and immunotherapy programs,” said Jenn Hickok, Roswell Park’s Director of Corporate and Sports Partnerships.
